Beatles Ukulele Songs (Fun and Easy)

So, I think I tweeted this link before but I wanted it on the site as well so folks could find it.  The site is called Ukulele Beatles Fun! and it's basically a bunch of (64!) flash pages for different Beatles songs.  What's great is that it plays a version of the song and then shows you chord shapes while the song is playing.  You can stop it, rewind, etc.  Heck, you can even tune your ukulele and check out all the lyrics.  Basically, it rules.

I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for The Beatles and also this site because it was the first page I found after I got my first ukulele (a Lanikai CK-TEQ).  In fact, I used this site to learn my first song on Ukulele, "She came in through the bathroom window".  But, in case you too are just starting out, I wouldn't recommend that song, it has some pretty tricky chord shapes and moves.  But, I guess it's a testament to learning songs in this way that I was eventually able to stumble through it.

Anyway, best of luck to ya!  Now, get out there and learn some Beatles!

Your first uke was a $300+ tenor? WTF? Whatever happened to starting on a $20 soprano?

Ha! I guess that’s not technically accurate. My first ukulele was a hunk of crap souvenir ukulele. It got me excited enough about ukes to know I needed something better. So, I only wanted to buy _one_ more uke so I wanted to make sure it was good quality. Of course, that all went out the window as my addiction grew. ;)

I’m so envious of you guys, the ukulele is such a wonderful sounding instrument and I really wished I could come to grips with it.

I borrowed my mates when he was on holiday recently, but unfortunately he returned and remembered who had it.

I’m tempted now to finally get one, but was worried by Uke Guy’s remarks that what I might buy could be a c**p souvenir as well.

recommended places to try and buy in northern england would be appreciated

Fraser, if you are on a budget, then just look for an Economy Mahalo. They are about $22 here in the states. I just bought two (one for each of my boys) and they play fine.

  5. Nice find! Heard that Harrison is a big fan of the uke and always travelled with one :D

  6. Good find! Heard that about Harrison too, not surprising as quite a lot of artistes are big fans of the ukelele :)
