Good find! Heard that about Harrison too, not surprising as quite a lot of artistes are big fans of the ukelele :)

Fraser, if you are on a budget, then just look for an Economy Mahalo. They are about $22 here in the states. I just bought two (one for each of my boys) and they play fine.

I'm so envious of you guys, the ukulele is such a wonderful sounding instrument and I really wished I could come to grips with it.

I borrowed my mates when he was on holiday recently, but unfortunately he returned and remembered who had it.

I'm tempted now to finally get one, but was worried by Uke Guy's remarks that what I might buy could be a c**p souvenir as well.

recommended places to try and buy in northern england would be appreciated

regards

Ha! I guess that's not technically accurate. My first ukulele was a hunk of crap souvenir ukulele. It got me excited enough about ukes to know I needed something better. So, I only wanted to buy _one_ more uke so I wanted to make sure it was good quality. Of course, that all went out the window as my addiction grew. ;)

Your first uke was a $300+ tenor? WTF? Whatever happened to starting on a $20 soprano?
